Being in front of a camera is never easy, not even for a model! Helmut Newton, for example, would shoot his models without film for the first half hour. Because it takes time to get used to the sound of the shutter and forget about it. It takes time for trust to be built on one side and empathy on the other. But when it happens, the muscles relax and everything becomes natural! And if the subject says ‘I had so much fun, almost forgetting you were shooting,’ then the camera truly becomes invisible, and we are really ‘face to face’.
